Georgia Tech College of Architecture Dean Alan Balfour awarded the 2011 Outstanding Research Faculty Award to Robert Todd, Senior Research Scientist and Director of Information Technology for the Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access (CATEA). This award recognizes outstanding achievements in the initiation, execution, and completion of research projects and contracts within the College of Architecture.

His nomination read: "Robert Todd deserves the Outstanding Research Faculty Award not only for his marquee projects such as SciTrain and BreakThru, but also for capably juggling numerous other research duties on projects ranging from continuing education developed in-house by CATEA, to partnerships with the Southeast ADA Center and the University of Georgia. His research has a measurable impact on the lives of students with disabilities who participate in these programs. His Accessible Education and Information Lab has thrived at CATEA as a direct result of his careful guidance and support. As a senior research scientist for CATEA, Robert sets the standard and tone for the work produced not only by students and junior faculty in his lab, but for the center as a whole."
