For a student with a motor or visual limitation, math poses two primary challenges:

  1. Reading and writing math problems and formulas
  2. Reading and creating graphs, possibly with a graphing calculator.

Some of the solutions are similar to those used for accessing regular text (i.e., typing instead of writing by hand, magnification, Braille). However, the special symbols used in mathematics and the need to skip around parts of a problem (i.e., carrying a one, examining a numerator or denominator) have resulted in the creation of some special solutions.
