If this is the case, it may be helpful to explore what tools are out there for students with an extremity limitation. CATEA's Assistivetech.net compiles many different types of assistive technologies, and those accommodations for those with upper extremity limitations can be found there.
Taking Notes Use adaptable writing devices.

Capture lectures to view again.

  • Videotape lectures.
  • Audiotape lectures.

Allow the student to have a note taker.

  • Allow another student or class partner to share notes with the student.
  • Use a voice recognition system to record the teacher's or other students ideas.

  • Provide take-home tests
  • Allow oral exams
