In this slide the conditions that are the most significant causes of disability for adults are different from conditions ranking highest for causes of activity limitations.

Amputations may result from a number of pathological conditions such as diabetes and circulatory cardiovascular problems. Note that hearing loss - a significant change with aging - does not rank among the leading causes of disability.
