Narration of Slide 54

Listen to the Audio (MP3, 293 KB) or read the transcript:

Yet another form of assist for chair egress is not lifting, but chair tilt on a central axis across the bottom of the chair. Very few chairs have entered the marketplace using tilting mechanisms to assist egress. It can be employed in mobility devices as well as static position chairs. In essence, the chair platform and back are rocked forward from the seated "rest" position to a predetermined position that automatically shifts the body CG forward. With a more upright seat back and slightly tilted seat platform, the occupant moves away from the chair more easily.
