This High Seat Toilet is equipped with handrails that attach to the mounting points for the seat. The advantage is in having two handrails rather than one, The disadvantage lies in a possible lack of stability depending upon the installation and maintenance of the device.

Narration of Slide 33

Listen to the Audio (MP3, 241 KB) or read the transcript:

Mounting support rails close in to the surface of the toilet is beneficial for many older adults with low strength in the upper legs and pain in the knees. As shown, such devices exist - however, the mounting and stability is entirely dependent upon the snugness of the mounting of the seat. Still other designs have the front of the rail curving into a straight post that rests on the floor. When force is applied, the unit affords reasonable stability.
