Microwave ovens are more versatile and safer than the older toaster ovens. The technology has improved over time and issues of operation have been better addressed by some manufacturers. Of importance, older adults (living alone) should probably acquire and utilize the smallest microwave oven that is simplest to operate. Complicated microwave recipes are inappropriate because this technology will become largely a heating device used for beverages such as coffee and tea, pre-packaged meals and snacks. Touch sensitive controls should be easy to read with reasonably sized type and surfaces that are not highly reflective.
