The United States Census, as the diagram pictured above illustrates, has provided a very clear picture of the relationship of disability to age. Fewer than 20% of the population experiences any form of disability under the age of 44. However, within 20 years, the proportion of the population with a disability doubles - and by the 85th year, the proportion doubles again to over 84%.
