In this tutorial we are going to use the Feed Reader called Bloglines. First, open a new tab or window, go to the Bloglines site and follow the instructions to install the program. This Feed Reader is free and works with Mac, Linux and Windows. Click on "Subscribe Now" and fill out the required information.
You will now receive an email to complete your subscription by validating your email address. Once you have completed this validation, Bloglines will give you the choice to subscribe to other feeds...which you can at this time but don't have to. Now press "Subscribe to My Selections" and you will be directed to a general subscription page with a text box in which to input a Feed Link. Open a third tab or window and go to the CATEA Feeds Homepage and either right click on a desired feed to copy the link location or click on the Feed (which will produce a page with raw XML data) and copy the URL for that page and then paste the copied information into the text box in Bloglines. Once this is pasted click "Subscribe". You will then see an Options Page for your feed. Keep all these default values (you can switch them later as best fits your needs) and click "Subscribe" at the bottom of the page.
Once you have subscribed to the feed look to the top left of the screen under the "feeds" tab and there you will find the feed you just subscribed to. Click on the feed and it will be displayed to the right. Make sure that "Display items within the last...MONTH" is selected and then press "Display". This will ensure that you will see recently added CATEA feed items, as we do not update the feed multiple times in a day like some news services do. Now you will see news items displayed under the feed header. You can scan the titles to see if there is an item you are interested in. You can then access this article by clicking on the title. It will take you to the place on the CATEA site where the full text of the article is located.
Congratulations! You have subscribed to a CATEA RSS Feed. Now you can go to "edit" under the "Feeds" tab and configure your Bloglines Reader to do exactly what you want it to...but make sure you keep the items display set to "MONTH".
