Five Points

April 5, 2006

Five Points

This is not only the birth mark of Atlanta

She is also the belly button of Atlanta

She is what gave Atlanta her first name

Terminus

Five railroad lines terminating

Between where the Georgia Train Depot and the World of Coca-Cola

Stand today

A monument should stand in her center

Marking her birth in 1837 marking her death in 1864

The monument should bare the three names Atlanta has held

Terminus Marthasville Atlanta

She ascended

From the ashes of Sherman

And the

Shadows of segregation

To become the strength of the south

All should visit Five Points

To taste the flavors and smell the history of

Terminus

Which Five Points named

Marta Five Points Station

May 11, 2007

Marta’s Five Points Station

A place to connect

Where north meets south and east meets west

A place to meet people of all walks of life

She stands on some of Atlanta’s most historical land

Where the ashes of Sherman once lay

Where the shadows of Jim Crow and Segregation still stand

She was named after the birth mark of Atlanta

Where Atlanta came to life in 1837 under the name of Terminus

One can smell the aromas of Atlanta and taste the flavors of the south

All should travel through Marta’s Five Points Station

Not solely for the experience or the history

But to understand Atlanta and the south

This is where Terminus came to life a 50 yards away in 1837

To our guest welcome and enjoy your visit

Riding a Marta Train

May 21, 2007

Riding a Marta train

The sights one can see are almost limitless

We are speaking of societal not natural

The people one can meet are beyond interesting

Riding a Marta train fills one with a number of possibilities

You might meet a near by neighbor or someone who lives on the other side of the country

You might land a job you never dreamed of

The conversations that one can have can be intriguing, interesting, intellectual and educational

One can educate one about Atlanta while being educated themselves

Riding a Marta train is something one should want to do

Not solely to save time, gas and give the environment a helping hand

One should want to ride a Marta train

For the experience, the education, for the convenience

One should understand the importance of mass transit

The Marta transit system can help one understand the size of Atlanta

Along with the wealth of her 170 years of history

Atlanta 1837-2007

Understand the importance of Marta’s transit system

Go ahead and ride a Marta train

Georgia Tech

Brightness

An institution for the future

An institution with promise

An atmosphere of academia

Where research is carried out

Where intelligence is a requirement

An institution of technology

For the

Advancement of mankind and

The promise of a brighter future for the world

This is why it is known as

The Georgia Institute of Technology
