Study on Inclusive Indoor Play (This Study is Ongoing)

It took almost two weeks to buy all the toys and put them together. But it was worth it! We have been having a lot of fun with the children playing in the Usability Lab. We've seen how kids with a variety of disabilities play and it's interesting to see similarities in some areas despite the different disabilities, but also the differences. Do you know a kid with a disability? Let us know, so we can invite them to come and play!

Georgia Tech is looking for 35+ children, ages 5 – 8, to participate in a research study on indoor play. Play is an important part of growing, and necessary for physical and mental development in children. Some children with disabilities are not able to participate fully in play, and may, as a result, experience further developmental delay. This project focuses on indoor play by children and how environmental barriers may limit play and social interaction. Children who participate in the study will have an opportunity to play with readily available play things found in the market – things like tunnels, puzzles, trains, soft toys, basketball, musical instruments, and more. All participants will be compensated for their time.

Please contact Sarah Endicott for more information and to schedule participation.
